What changed in the revised Computer Science course?
First examined in May 2027, the revised course removes Paper 3 and includes the pre-released case study in Paper 1 for both SL and HL. Paper 2 assesses computational thinking and algorithms.
What is the Computer Science IA?
It is a software development project of about 35 hours for a real need. The report has a maximum of 2,000 words, excluding code and diagrams, and includes a demonstration video. It contributes 30% at SL and 20% at HL.
How do HL and SL Computer Science differ?
HL covers more content in greater depth. Paper 1 and Paper 2 each contribute 40% and the IA 20% at HL; at SL the papers each contribute 35% and the IA 30%.
Can I take Computer Science without programming experience?
Yes, but regular coding practice is important. Tutoring can start with programming fundamentals and algorithmic thinking.
